It's Better to Give Than Receive

The Holiday Season can teach us all a good lesson about Tournament Gift Giving.

Buying a gift for a single person is wonderful. A joyful exploration of an individual personality. That one great gift for that one person. Lovely!

Shopping for gifts for a family of 5 or 6 is another story (notice I call it "shopping" here instead of "buying a gift"). This is when gift giving crosses over from singular to plural and where those Late-December-Shopping-Mall-Parking-Lot disagreements are born. This is hard-working SHOPPING.

But it's still a mostly an individualized gift for each person. Sure, it's a handful - but we still get that gift-giver payoff of finding a personalized gift for everyone.

How about 144 people? Uh, nope. You can't personalize 144 different gifts for 144 different people. No thanks. This is where tournament gifting often resides. From a Singular Expression to Herd Management. A 144-inventory count of a single gift to give to all attendees when they register.

A completely different ballgame than the 1:1 ratio of personal giving. This is cold calculation.

The result is those long rows of gifts being placed and distributed. It's a great plan and often an attractive view for golfers flowing through registration - we've done it lots and will continue to. But if you are ready for something different, something more like Holiday Gift Giving, you'll have to default away from the one-gift-for-everyone formula.

Just do what your Mom or Dad did when they asked you for a "list" back in your younger days. It was great wasn't it? If they were going to ask you what you wanted - you were gonna tell them!!!

We can now do the same thing with your tournament. You can ask your golfers for their individual "list" for gifting next year. Here at CGT, we recently announced our new status with Canadian Apparel Company Levelwear in the article below. This article talks about how we can bring a dedicated website to life for you and your tournament and then we will build out the specific menu of items to populate your gifting website.

Presto - your golfers have a tournament-specific brochure of your pre-selected product options to build their very own gift from.

If you're looking to break away from the one-for-all process and make your tournament gifting more like individualized holiday gifting - we need to get started soon to get you placed into the process.

And don't worry about the method of building out that list of apparel items - we'll let you check it twice before the site goes live!!
